Chuck has been building furniture since he was 12. For ten years he worked at Irion Company Furniture Makers leaving as head of their chair and casework production. Since 1991, he has earned a reputation as a builder of the highest quality 18th century reproduction furniture. In 2007, he started the Acanthus Workshop to become a woodworking mentor, instructor and author. In 2013 He worked for Popular Woodworking Magazine as a senior editor. In 2014 he ventured out on his own and with a couple of woodworkers helped co-found 360 Woodworking. Fast forward to 2017 and Chuck is getting The Acanthus Workshop back online and educating for The Woodworking Shows.

Joinery Fundamentals & Table Saw Joinery

In Joinery Fundamentals Chuck Bender teaches you about variety of basic joints, when to use them, how they work and why. With Table Saw Joinery you’ll learn how to make a variety of strong joints at the table saw quickly, accurately and efficiently using the standard equipment and a few shop-made jigs.

Double Raised Panel

If a raised panel is good, then raising it a second time has got to be better. In this seminar Chuck Bender demonstrates how to create a raised panel, then how to add a second decorative fielded area. The techniques are easy and add depth and interest to this classic construction method.

Once you’ve got all the parts of your project cut to size and joined together it’s time to assemble, right? Maybe, but maybe not. Chuck Bender shows you how, and what surfaces to prep prior to assembly on a project. He also provides tips to speed up assembly, reduce glue squeeze out and clamp damage as you put your project together.
