Take a walk on the artistic side of woodturning as I create my award winning Morocco Blue Bowl. Wood selection, tools, form, coloring and using contrasting wax all come together to create this stunning piece. I’ll provide tips on texture and offer several different options for airbrushing setup. You don’t need a lot of extra equipment to use these techniques.

The Cutting Edge Sharpening your Woodworking Tools
(Saturday 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Sunday 1:30pm - 2:30pm)
Almost sharp isn’t sharp at all! I’ll show you how to care for many of your edged woodworking tools. Hand plane blades, bench chisels, turning tools and even your pocket knife! Sharpening is vital but it doesn’t have to be complicated. I demonstrate some hand sharpening options, the Tormek System and jigs plus popular woodturning tool sharpening systems. We’ll discuss stone, CBN and diamond wheels, card sharpeners, tool steel, tempering and edge geometry. Remember, your cuts are only as good as the sharpness of your tools!
As Jeff developed and evolved as a woodturner, he began teaching others. One of the best ways to share what you’re passionate about is to teach. Local demos turned into traveling demos. Those lead into National and International Symposiums demonstrations as well. He is Co-Chair of the Woodworking Studio and one of the woodturning instructors at Craft Alliance School of Art and Craft in St. Louis, and he loves being able to share what he has learned with his students.
