Friday 12:30 - 1:30: Simple Sharpening

There is far too much information and misinformation surrounding the topic of sharpening for woodworking tools. Join Vic Tesolin as he busts some myths and shows you how you can get sharp tools for about $20. You don’t need a ton of gear, you don’t need the latest and greatest anything and he will introduce you to the actual fundamentals that all the forums and chat groups don’t talk about. Like anything in woodworking, once you understand the end goal, it’s a matter of getting there, and more often than not, the best route is simple and straightforward. Vic will help you get your edges sharp in a relatively short amount of time and all for the cost of a couple of coffees.

Friday 2:30 - 3:30: Success With Bench Planes

Bench planes can do a lot of work in the modern shop and can even save you from buying expensive machines. However, if you’ve never used a bench plane before the thought of it may worry you a bit. The truth is, if you can set up a table saw, then you can set up and use a hand plane. Like anything else in woodworking, once you know the steps, it’s fairly easy to do. Join Vic as he takes you through the process he uses to get great results from his bench planes. He’ll touch on set up, sharpening tips, and how to get your best from a tool that’s been around since the Roman’s. You’ll be surprised how easy it really is.

Friday 4:00 - 5:00: Tasks For The Router Plane

If you don’t like or want to use a power router or table saw to cut joinery, you have other options. The router plane can do many joinery tasks and is a simple tool to use. Vic will take you through some of the common uses for this tool as well as some tips and tricks on how to get it preforming its best. He will cover joints like dados, rabbets and grooves as well as a simple trick for sneaking up to a perfect sized tenon. Regardless of whether you work with hand or power tools, the router plane is a great tool to add to any shop.
